Hello?
Well it's been almost a year since I posted on here. I wonder if anybody even sees this anymore. Leave me a note if you see this. Happy new year to everyone who might run across this post.

Cccolddd
Man it's cold here. I don't mean that wimpy 40 degree stuff...I mean the high today was 27 degrees. The low tonight will be about 8 degrees. To make matters worse, it's been this way for a day already and will not warm up significantly until Monday.
I've been in Wichita for about 12 years and this winter has been the worst by far. I shouldn't whine too much though, because this summer will probably bring triple digit temps. C'mon spring...

My friend Perri's amazing purple hull pea recipe
One pound of frozen purple hull (black eye) peas makes 6 servings
1. Fry 4 strips of thick cut peppered bacon. Remove and cut/crumble to size you like.
2. Chop about 1 cup of yellow onion
3. Finely chop about 1/2 tblsp of fresh Rosemary
4. Open small can of Southwestern corn (or shoe peg)
5. Cook purple hull peas (black eyed) according to their directions.
Add cooked bacon pieces, onion and corn to cast iron skillet on med heat. Once mixed, add peas and Rosemary. Use sea salt (to taste) and simmer on low for about 15 minutes.
This dish makes a great hearty cold weather meal. It's filling without making you feel bloated.

Just roll with it...
First off, yours truly went to have my eyes examined. A year ago while I was getting a physical for my job, they told me that my eye sight wasn't great. Since then, my wife has informed me on several occasions that she wished I'd go get glasses. Well, i broke down and did that yesterday. Come to find out, I need bi-focals. Sooo, I chose to wear contacts and reading glasses for the time being. Let's just say that putting contacts in my eyes is NOT one of my favorite things to do. I just took my contacts out and now my eyes feel all scratchy. I don't know how long I can keep this up. I may just end up wearing my old man glasses (bi-focals) exclusively. We'll see.
Well, I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend..
Peace

Does anybody still come here?????
So it been awhile, huh? I haven't posted here in about 6 months due in part to Face book. I seem to have shifted my attention to my FB page. I've kept up with most of the "regulars" who used to visit here though.
Well the first thing I should mention is that my affiliation with the BFMC has run its course and terminated. The short answer to "why" it didn't work out is because I just didn't have the time to devote to the club. They state it a little differently...that I didn't have the "heart" to follow through. I'm ok with that position too. The bottom line is that I still respect those guys in a big way. I cant begin to paint the picture of the process it takes to earn the right to become a patch holder.
Second subject: I'm enjoying my role as a father to my kids. My oldest is 18, graduated from high school and trying to learn the ways of the world. He has it in his head that he's joining the USMC and has been in touch with the local recruiter. As of now, he's working two jobs to make ends meet. We are trying to be patient with him as he tries to live like a rock star on a minimum wage budget. My other two kids are growing fast too. "T-Man" starts Jr high Monday and "Little-Bit" starts the 3rd grade. T-Man turns 13 on Sept 30th. We've bought him a dirt bike which is being hidden until that day. He asked for one awhile back and we told him that he must continue to be an excellent kid in order to earn it. We bought him a helmet last weekend, so he's really excited.
My wife looks incredible. I love just hanging out with her and the kids on the weekends. The time I spent away from her when I was with the club began to take a toll on our relationship, so I try to spend more time with her now. I traded in my Dyna when I left the club and now I'm riding a 2008 HD Street Glide. This bike is more comfortable for her. To be honest though...I'm about ready to turn this bike in and quit riding on the street all together. I might buy me a dirt bike and start riding with T-Man. I don't know, we'll see.
So that's it for now. I gotta go let folks know that I'm back.
Peace
