It's been a long time since I rock and rolled...

And it has been a couple of days since I posted. Thanks goes out to my brother Chris for motivating me to get back to it. I didn't think anyone other than one or two fellow bloggers were still keeping up with my circus (thanks again Bro).

This past week has been a rough one. Being that I was off for an entire week the week prior, it was difficult to keep keep up physically with, PT, work, and everything else. I've been very sluggish, not even having the motivation to go play drums. I've been crashing out about 9:00 pm every night. I've also put on more weight. I've got to get the weight gain under control or the USAF is gonna make my life hell. OK..Enough whining.

On a brighter note, I'm starting a new part time job tomorrow morning. I'm working at Tarpley Music C0. Tarpley's has several stores in TX and one in New Mexico. I'm very excited about getting the chance to try my hand at retail sales. I'm really stoked to be getting paid to be around drums, guitars and other beautiful instruments and get paid to mess around with them. The kicker is I have zero experience in retail sales. Never done it a day in my life. I just went in awhile back and asked to speak to the manager. I told the guy about my military career and my love of drums and guitars. I told him I was a beginner player on both but I had invested a bunch of time learning the technical in's and out's. I told him that I get a calming effect when I'm in a music store that it just hits me like a kid in a candy store.

He had me fill out an application and said he'd keep me in mind for part time. I checked back with him a month ago. He called me this past Wed and I interviewed for about 2 hrs (We shot the breeze for much of that time). It turns out that he wrote one of the songs and did voice overs for a show I loved as a kid; The Banana Splits. That was one of those weird early Saturday morning 70's shows that mixed music with zany antics from its characters. The Splits rocked man!!!!!

I'm very happy to get to try this job out. Also, I'm again grateful to have a partner to split the jam pad rent with too (thanks Richard). All in all I've got it great now. I should stop to say a debt of thanks to John for helping me "trudge this happy road". It's hard to imagine that tomorrow night I will celebrate 3 yrs. Every day I give thanks.

Well kids... I should hit the sack so I can be fresh for my first day...MAN I'M EXCITED! I'll post tomorrow night...
Peace,

Do they let you help select the background music? Or demonstate the drum sets?

That would be rockin'!!

Glad to see your out of the duldrums bro. Retail sales in music is much better than part time stock boy at the mini-mall. Congrats!

Thanks for checking in Boiledpnut. You too bro. We dont have atmosphere music, but yep, I do get to play on the equipment. It rained all day so we were slow. I jammed out on a $2,000 set of electric drums today. I cranked the amp up and cut loose. My boss just smiled. It is soo cool to get paid just to have fun.

Congrats on the new job! Too fun. If you like people you will like retail, that's what it is really about.
