Back in TX....

We left the coast yesterday at 10:00am and got home last night about 10:30. We stopped in Shreveport for an hour to eat. Doing a 720 mile trip with 3 kids in 12 hrs is pretty good. So now we're back in the oven of Wichita Falls TX. After being around all of the nice green foliage of Memphis and the coast, the scortched brown area of North TX is just plain dreary.

The pic below is the legendary Sun Recording Studios on Union St. in Memphis. This is where Elvis, Carl Perkins and Johnny Cash began their recording careers. It was very cool (but crowded) going in here. The lady who made the famous fried peanut butter sandwiches that Elvis liked still works in the cafe here.

And of course no trip to Memphis would be complete without visiting Graceland. Below is yours truly at the gates to E's mansion. I didnt take the tour inside because I found out that Priscilla and Lisa Marie sold most of their interest in the Elvis estate.

So thats it for now. I'm back in hell...err Texas. Oh yea...I got a notice that I have jury duty starting this Monday. I havent been to work at my military job for the last 3 weeks, so lets make it an even one month.

"Pocket Full of Rainbows" is one of my favorite songs. How cool about the recording studio. My hubby would love that!

OMG Paul,

When I was a child and lived in Memphis, we drove past Graceland often on our comings and goings. I used to look out at those gates and I dont know if they still do, but they used to have these big cameras on them, like security cameras scanning back and forth in front of the gates, and I used to wave like crazy and EVERY TIME I would say (in my cute little southern accent which the wicked 4th graders teased out of me) "Mamma, do you really think Elvis can see me? I love him so much....." seems silly now that I thought he was sitting there watching people drive past his house, HEY I was like 9....lol Glad you had a good time, I cant WAIT to go. I am so excited....

nice pics. I'm glad you made it home safely.

Hey! You look different in these pictures from the other ones. You look cute, well you did in the other ones too, but these are brighter. Glad you are back, hope you can put off the military gig a while longer. ;)
