Round here

I usually don't care for songs that discuss social issues. However, this song is awesome and Counting Crows is a great band. Do yourself a favor and really listen to the lyrics, then watch the video a second time and look at the props they used to convey the message. Just a kick ass song all around.

Things around the W-family camp have been a little rough lately. Last week, I attended the funeral of my old boss who was also my friend. Also, last Thursday, my son had reconstructive knee surgery to repair a torn ACL and meniscus. What was supposed to take 2.5 hrs turned into a 5 hr operation and then as my son was preparing to go home, he couldn't straighten out his "good" leg. In fact, it was numb. So the doc says let him stay overnight in the hospital, he probably pinched a nerve while laying on the OR table...so he stayed. The next morning was no better. So they say sometimes it may take a few days or even weeks for a pinched nerve to return to 100%. So they loaded him into my wife's SUV and discharged him. My wife calls me at work and informs me of all of this and says she needs me to come home and help get my son out of the truck and into his wheel-chair. After 30 minutes of struggling with that, we got him into his bed where he's been for the last two days. I just checked on him and am happy to report that he is regaining use of his good leg.

So that's my week. So go watch the video and like me, try to remember that there are people walking around in life who have things a hell of a lot worse that me. This song is a great reminder of that.

Glad to hear the boy is OK...surgery of any kind is scary! So I am glad it all turned out well. How ya doing at the gym? I had a pretty lazy weekend, but I am back at it tomorrow. I will be ready for it to cool off here a bit. I am really not loving the humidity here lately! Anyhow, just hanging in there and doing the best that I can. Crash leaving here pretty quick. Going to MEPS on friday and then will get all signed up, except he has to take the AIMS test? Is that just an Arizona thing?? I think its stupid anyhow, just trying to keep up with everything over here!!! Glad to hear from ya
