Hurricane Update Monday

Well,
Like most of you, I'm just stunned by the footage of the damage EVERYWHERE. The only family members that I've talked to is my mom, dad and grandma. They left the Ms. Coast and went to Florida.

With the exception of me and my brother, the majority of my family on my moms side still live on the the Ms. coast. My biological dad and family on his side are still there also. Plus my inlaws too. I've been trying all day to call cell phones and landlines of my family. CNN just showed Biloxi (whats left of it). Water is up to the roofs of homes. I cant get ahold of anyone back home. It doesnt look promising. I'm worried about my father-in-law. CNN showed downtown Gulfport which is just a few blocks from my inlaws house. It had about 10 feet of water standing.

I just got off the phone with my brother. He's heard from a friend of friends who went riding around Biloxi and Gulfport. A huge church in Long beach that weathered through Camille is gone, most of the mall in Biloxi is gone, and water in my biological dad's town of Long beach flooded 4 blocks north of the gulf to the railroad tracks. My dads house sits right next to the tracks on the North side of them. Unfortunately this friend doesnt know any of my family so I have no news about them. I'm just blown away by all of the damage.

I told both my jobs that depending on my family's situation, I might be taking a week off next week and taking a generator, propane and some other stuff down to my family. I hope I wont have to go bury anyone.

That's about all I can say now. I really want to thank all of you who have been kind enough to leave well wishing comments. Thank you all...

I couldn't help but notice the spammer who quoted Elbert Hubbard. I wondered if he was any relation to that alien scientology dude, L. Ron Hubbard. So, I googled him.

What a random person for a spammer to quote. This really is a bizarre world.

Elbert Hubbard:
He founded (1895) an artist colony in East Aurora, N.Y., and established there the Roycroft Press, emulating William Morris's idealistic experiment in fine books and hand craftsmanship. An ardent believer in rugged individualism, Hubbard edited the inspirational Philistine magazine and was the author of the essay "A Message to Garcia" (1899), a lesson in duty and efficiency based on an incident in the Spanish-American War. Hubbard died on the Lusitania, which was sunk in the Irish Sea by a German submarine on May 7, 1915.

(Hope you are hanging in there, Paul.)
