What the hell

is the deal? As I randomly scroll through peoples blogs, about every 3rd or 4th one is some type of political blog from somewhere in the world. They range from just making a stand for what they believe to all out dropping F-bombs and slinging other profanity at one side or candidate or country. I just don't get it. But then again, they aren't my blogs, so I don't have to get it. All I'm trying to say is that the world is already in chaos due to the war and due to extreme actions by people. No amount of troops, no amount of bombs and no amount money is going to change things. What can change things is by accepting that people in SW Asia have been fighting since biblical times.

Now if anyone is reading this, before you start screaming about Sept 11, hold on and let me finish my thought. Yes we were attacked. No doubt about it. But why?? And by who?

Before I launch into this stuff, let me say that I'm not just spewing my beliefs into cyber space. What I'm going to write is factual. I had a chance to spend 90 days in Saudi Arabia back in 95' and I had the pleasure of many personal meetings with several devout Saudi Muslims who were high ranking officers in the Saudi military. We talked about everything under the sun. Some things we talked about and shared could have gotten them and me be-headed right on the spot (yes they do that in that part of the world). Religion was the big one. I video taped some of our exploits (which in itself was a no no), but my hosts were very easy going after they got to know us. However, when religion became the subject, they made us turn the camera off. They were very cordial, but stern in their request to do so.

Anyway, back to why I know we were attacked; it was to send a message that the Muslim-Arabic world does not want our country in their part of the world. It's because our western lifestyle (in general) is considered hedonistic to Muslim-Arabic culture.

For the last 15 yrs, we have "infiltrated" our culture into theirs and they aren't happy. Let me elaborate. When the first Gulf war kicked off, we went over and thwarted Saddam from rolling into Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. Great, we can pat our selves on the back and feel good. But here's where it all goes off kilter. Like anything the govt does, it takes forever and then usually just gets fouled up before completion. We didn't remove Saddam and leave in a timely manner. Lets think about this. I went there in 95', and by then we were into "Operation Southern Watch". What the hell were we still doing there 4 yrs after the fact. If we would have removed Saddam, Southern Watch would have been a theory and we would have been saving some other country. But let's not forget... We had to make sure that black stuff in the ground is taken care of. But I digress (I'll save that for another blog).

You see what people don't realize is how very rigid Muslim culture is. If we weren't "on duty" we would of course go into town and buy up all the gold, perfumes, and rugs we could get our hands on. We would wear our Air Jordans, Chicago Bulls jerseys, talk loud and stare at their women, just like we do here in the states. What's the problem with any of that huh? All of it. In their culture, a second look into the eyes of a female can result in your arrest by the religeous police (they are everywhere). Don't say anything about if you think this is ridiculous or not. That's just the way it is in their culture, and has been for years. We brought our culture (not on purpose mind you) and diluted theirs. I personally saw a young teen wearing the traditional white garment in the mall with a Chicago Bulls ball cap on. I asked my Muslim friend about why he wasn't corrected for that. His response was, "That is the result of western culture". Before Americans came you would have never seen that. "If you did, he would have been corrected by an elder".

Look at the nationalities of the high jackers on 9-11. The majority were Saudi. We aren't invading their country. We are "liberating" Iraq. First we were gonna remove WMD, but when that didn't pan out we switched to liberating the people in the name of home land security. I repeat, Saudi's were the majority of the bad guys. UHMM yea but we gotta save Iraq. Why aren't we treating Saudi Arabia the same as Iraq?? You see where I'm going with this?

The bottom line is this. Sept 11th was horrible. The people didn't deserve it. No killing of innocent people is ever acceptable. So now the question is who is willing to make the first move to prevent it from happening again. If we pull out, some will say we will look weak. So what? As a military member, I'd much rather fortify and die on my country's borders than on some road side in BFE (ask a military guy about the abbreviation). Some say fight them on their soil and keep them away from ours. Sounds good in theory. But, it's too late (9-11) and secondly, who are "them"? Again, who were the majority of the hi-jackers????

Man, I'm spent...This blog is supposed to be about my life and now I've gone down a rabbit trail. No more crap like this any more. Gotta go, the Cheap Trick video is rolling the ending credits and the remote doesn't work. Ahhh Western culture:)

Paul, Great Blog! You made some very good points. I think if they (Iraq) were just sitting on a pile of sand, we wouldn't give a rat's you-know-what about them. People are starving and killing each other in Africa, but we can't profit from it so we don't care. I also can see why the muslim world hates us. Look at the Crusades too.
Real good post!
Opps, gotta get back to my I-Tunes....

Butt Fuck Egypt. Yes, that is the way it has been since "Biblical times." But, they were never allowed anything else. Humans regardless of their society or religion deserve freedom of choice and knowledge. Otherwise, they are just monkeys in a cage enjoying their "prison" because they don't know anything else. I do agree about the Saudi situation...it's all about $$$$, that's the way it is. Good post, gets us thinking.

I was listening to the radio, and we Britishers have a great humour, the radio humourists came out with the following... 'We were brave...' then how people who were brave went on to live their lives as they normally would do, maybe getting drunk, maybe being out with mates playing footie, maybe going out for a meal... but were they really brave or just complacent, and feeling safe, in Barnsley, or Basingstoke... some small street where they were thinking they are highly unlikely to get bombed... the point is that it was a really funny storyline, as much as I had felt the seriousness again earlier when I was trying to park and security at the hotel was tight... but then to hear the radio comedy, just lifted the whole situation to a level of reality checking...
