I got word of the first death in my family due to the hurricane. I don't want to say any more because my extended family may read my blog. It's not my place to notify. I also found out that an Uncle, 2 aunts, and a young cousin had to swim out of their house when it flooded and all grabbed onto a tree in the front yard untill the storm was over with. My uncle has bad medical problems and now I hear he is in shock and has retreated back into the house and wont come out (Bubba, Cindy, Kathy and BJ, I love and am praying for you all. Bubba, if you read this, I hope you can muster the courage to come out and go get some medical help).
I am sad about that and angry at the Air Force now. Today the base commander issued an order that no one is to go to Mississippi or Louisiana unless part of a military action. If you're a regular here, you know that I've been planning to go to MS to bring supplies to my people. That will not happen now. Disobeying the order could result in a courts martial or being given an Artical 15 (non judicial punishment) under the UCMJ (military law system). The reason for the order is "so as not to tax law officers, infastructure and roadways". THATS A LOAD OF BULLSHIT!!!
This commander has no family ties to the coast and I am offended by the reasonings he gave for this order. I wonder if he would accept me using that weak ass excuse if he wanted to send me to Iraq. Could you picture me saying, "Sir, I dont want to go because it's too dangerous". The same conditions exist in Iraq, but I suppose it's an acceptable risk for me to go help people around the world who have never done a thing to promote America. But I'd be too much of a burden in my own country to go help my own helpless AMERICAN flesh and blood.
I don't know people, maybe I'm so pissed off that I'm not looking at this right. I just know that while the general and I are sitting in our air conditioned homes tonight, with clean dry clothes on and our creature comforts nicely in tact, I have family doing without basic necessities.
