Sleep well...Your Air Force is...

My bags are packed and ready. This little weeklong jaunt to FL will have me up 5:45am tomorrow. We will leave the base at 7:00 am on a 3 hr bus ride to the DFW Airport.

There are about 25 of us going. The sarge that is in charge had to arrange flights for everyone. We are all leaving in small groups at 3 different times. One group will spend tonight in dallas so they can catch their early flight.

My group wont fly out of DFW untill 3:45pm tomorrow. That means I will be hanging around the airport for 5 hrs waiting on my flight. It's not a big deal, I bought me an MP3 player last night and have it loaded with music. I'll just chill out and people watch. My only concern is that it isnt a good thing for a recovering drunk to be bored in an airport that has bars around every corner. Like I said though, I aint too worried.

I'm more worried about flying than anything else. I know it might be funny to hear a military guy say he doesnt like flying/traveling, but thats the case with me. The year I spent in Korea away from my family was the breaking point for my views on the military. 9-11 really affected me about the importance of my loved ones. Something happened in Korea that just made me hate leaving my family. I'm very skiddish when I fly.

Well we had today off and I must say it was very nice just hanging out on such a beautiful day. I'm going to go in to the music store early and then come home and hope to get in a night time skate to release some tension and get a good night's sleep. I bought some inline skates a week ago and have been chomping at the bit to hit the jogging path. We have a wide cement path that goes for a several miles through town. It winds through some nice attractions, and usually has nice attractions jogging and skating on it too (sorry ladies...I'm a typical pervy kind of guy).

Mind you, I havent been on skates since about 95' but I'm determined to pick it up (I think it's part of my mid life thing). So anyway, I'll holler at ya all in a week or so.

Hey Paul,

An Air Force guy who doesn't like flying. Well to each his own. You will be fine just kick back and think about kickin'.
You know bars in the air port serve soda too and there is usually some excellent scenery walkin' around also. I had the same problem for a while. Mind over matter. If you don't mind it don't matter!
In line skates way cool. What just for the attraction of it. Hehehe.
Take care and have a safe and enjoyable trip. Have fun and stay out of trouble. smile.
Peace.
