She's got a ticket to ride...

I warned everyone that voted for "change" to be careful what you asked for because you just might get it. I submit for your viewing...a proclamation that she wont have to worry about paying for gas or paying her mortgage any more... "Cause he's gonna help me".

So my question is this. Do we consider what's on the horizon socialism? Of course not, my liberal friends will trumpet back at me. Ok, Ok. How about the dumbing down of America?

Either way...Do you have YOUR ticket to ride?

Her ignorance isn't indicative of the mind set of the majority.. unfortunately, it is the mind set of a few.

In a crowd of people we can always find someone (even if it's only one person) to help sensationalize the message we're hoping to relay! Like for example what Howard Stern did. I wonder how many people they actually spoke to before they were able to find three people who were that out of touch with reality.

Unfortunately, show casing a literate person isn't as news worthy.

Hi Angie,
While I agree with everything you mention, I dont accept that there are only a "few" in regards to her mindset.

In the case of Stern sending his henchman into the ghettos, I agree that they only showcased the negative stereotypical "few". After all, they were only in one neighborhood.

However, I believe the lady in this video is the voice of many across our nation. Yes, they may be a "few" in comparison to the moral majority, but I believe their numbers are greater than you think.

But...only time will tell. I hope you prove me wrong...and if you do, I will be more than happy to eat crow. I'd rather swallow my pride than bare a socialist government.

Have a great day and thanks for checking in on me..

Hey Paul,

I don't think there will be any proving anyone wrong. How would we really know the numbers of folks who "think" that way anyway.

[LOL @ myself.. I said "think" when OBVIOUSLY they don't utilize that ability!! *chuckle*]

Now, what would be interesting to see is the reaction of these people when they realize that they've interpreted Obama incorrectly!!

Yes.. Angie is about to mention RACE here so brace yourself!!

Regarding the mind set of those like the woman in the video.. They think that they'll be given a free ride because they're black, and we've elected a black (who is primarily white based off of his heritage) President! My feelings are that too many have milked the system long enough. Obama said he can only help if those are willing to sacrifice and help themselves as well. So chickiedoodle in the video better get off her hiney, get a JOB, and stop living off of welfare! The same goes for the folks in New Orleans (and elsewhere) who have made it a career to live off of our Government! *smile*

Angie,
Are you a conservative in liberal clothing? LOL, of course I'm kidding. But what you mention is spot on.

As a side note, you mentioned that it wouldn't be possible to tell the number of people who think like the lady in the video. I have to disagree with you. I think we could use statistics of those who "use" whatever handouts might be given. Heck, we could throw out the elderly, handicapped, etc and narrow the statistics down to the "freeloaders".

In my opinion, that data would indicate how many think like the lady in the video.

Good post, Paul. IMHO, the opinion expressed on the vid is far more widespread than we think. Free rides can only exist so long as the number of "haves" exceeds the number of "have nots" and "will nots" combined. Since voting our way into the til was the issue du jour for Obama, the results of the vote should tell us how many there are in the last two categories. Unfortunately for this lady and the throngs who believe as she does, Obama's going to be too busy and the til is going to be too empty for him to ever address their wants. Economically speaking, even if BO could pull it off, which he can't, the free ride wouldn't last long.

They (media) were so busy trying to discredit Palin on Africa - a conversation which didn't happen by the way - that they (media) don't bother asking the have/will nots what the major issues of Obama's campaign are. Most can't answer, but it is of less importance than discrediting a conservative, so they leave it alone. Dumbed down by the media? You betcha!

Yep, I agree - dumbing down of America?

I also think that there are more then just a "few" that think they entitled to "handouts" because they are black.

While shopping at walmart after the election, I heard a group of young folks talking and they were stating "its about time they had a black president that will speak on behalf of their race".

What got my attention (this was a long check out line so I had nothing to do but listen) was they couldn't even remember what he said in the debates.

One chimed in and said it was his first year voting and he just wanted to be apart of history, a black man voting a black man in as president.

BTW- great post and converstaion!

In my opinion the ignorance of a few in their voting choice covers both parties! There are blacks who voted strictly for Obama because he was a black man, not because of what the issues were. There are just as many white people who voted for McCain because they didn't want to vote for a black man into the office of President. The bigotry and ignorance goes both ways, not just one! Since the stupid voters on both sides wipe each other out, then it's the majority who is educated (or somewhat educated) who made the choice for our President!

Also, as has been very nicely show cased in all of our blogs, the media has been more than fair in showing the stupidity that exists on both sides!

Why must the wall of political division always be thrown out there? The woman in this video was ignorant (regardless of which side she's on). She could have very easily been some sort of back woods KKK hick saying something equally as ludicrous!

Can anyone say, "Atlas Shrugged," Ayn Rand?

I found this on Wikipedia, you might find it interesting if you haven't read the book.

"Atlas Shrugged portrays fascism, socialism and communism – any form of state intervention in society – as systemically and fatally flawed. Rand said that it is not a fundamentally political book, but that the politics portrayed in the novel are a result of her attempt to display her image of the ideal person and the individual mind's position and value in society."

"Rand argues that independence and individual achievement enable society to survive and thrive, and should be embraced. But this requires a "rational" moral code. She argues that, over time, coerced self-sacrifice causes any society to self-destruct."

As for the attitudes of the majority of BO supporters, I think it would be naive to think that his supporters are expecting something for their votes, that is why we vote for candidates. Conservatives vote for a candidate who promises lower taxes and smaller government.

Democrats vote for a candidate who promotes the "common good", whatever the hell that means. VN8

VN8, it makes sense to me that in order for our civilization to exist (and prosper), we must have some type of moral code. It must be the "minimum standard" that we all maintain in order to thrive in harmony.

I guess that is the crux of our issue...today's society has failed to toe the line and B.O. has said that he would like to blur that line even more.

Angie, Vote and everyone else...I am loving all of this thought provoking stuff here. Great observations from all aroound. This is what makes blogging fun for me.

Atlas is shrugging because the world is getting heavier. More and more people are relying upon Atlas to keep their world upright. The task is beginning to exceed the resources available, and Atlas can't get help.
